Made To Crave

I started a new book, while I am still reading the "old" book. Becoming a Woman Who Pleases God is not a quick read. After each statement there is a scripture address to back it up. So I have to look up each one if I really want to benefit from this reading. It's a SLOW read. You need to marinate in the applications.

I picked up Made To Crave by Proverbs 31 "Jesus Girl", Lysa TerKeurst. I have read her books before and I really like her. She is hilarious.

But this morning, I thought I would start with Becoming a Woman Who Pleases God. Being healthy is the chapter I am on. Oh, is it a coincidence that the other book is about being healthy too? I think not!

"Just as good physical health is the result of implementing sound health practices, so good spiritual health is the result of applying sound spiritual practices. God's Health Plan for the heart of the Wise Woman contains four essential elements:

Weight: A need to eliminate unneeded cares (1 Peter 5:7-10)
Pulse: the rhythm of one's gratitude (Colossians 3:12-17)
Blood pressure: Reading of anxiety over trust (Psalm 55:22)
Diet: Regular intake and submission to the life-giving thoughts of the Lord (Jeremiah 15:16)

I did the work for you so all you have to do is click the link to the scripture. But you can see why this book is a study guide and other books are "reads".

It takes me longer to read books than "normal" people because I read and journal. What that means is that I have my journal and a pen next to me so that if there is something that I think is worthy sharing, I will write it down. I have already started taking notes from Made to Crave. But I am on the third chapter already!

I will share that with you on another occasion. Have a Thankful Thursday, Friends. I will!

Notes from Todays Service

“Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.” 1 John 4:11-12 NIV

This is the verse of the day from The Bible Gateway. It goes right along with the service that I just listened to.

The Truth

3 John 1:4
"I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth."

God wants us to walk in the truth, His Truth.

Is God's Word your source of truth?

Have you heard of humanism?

"A system of thought that rejects religious beliefs and centers on humans and their values, capacities, and worth." (taken from the free dictionary. com)

"The philosophy is the denial of any power or moral value superior to that of humanity; the rejection of religion in favor of a belief in the advancement of humanity by its own efforts."

I can say that I am or not doing this because the Bible says...But what people are saying is that I don't believe that so I am going to do...

"The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness,"
Romans 1:18

These are not my words. These are God's. If I base my thoughts and actions on Truth then I can't say "Well, I think..." When things are left up to opinion, that's when chaos happens.

What is the source of our Truth?

Without God's Word being the authority in our lives, we end up at a cross road of:

  • confusion
  • disoriented
  • perplexed
What do we trust? Our hearts?

The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?
Jeremiah 17:9

We need to be saying "What does the Bible say about...?"

Are we going to be students of the Word?

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
2 Timothy 2:15

(The Awana Verse).

What is guiding how you live your life?

Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Joshua 1:8

Don't let people tell you that it's just a book made by man. It's not just a book. It's God's Book.

What does it cost to walk in the truth? Have you counted the cost?

It cost you nothing to believe on the Lord for eternal life. It cost something to be a follower of Jesus Christ. EVERYTHING!

Does your confession match your walk? Let's just learn to love each other. That's a start.

It's easy to say the words. It's difficult to hold each other accountable.

As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17

The theologian Karl Rahner put it this way: "The number one cause of atheism is Christians. Those who proclaim God with their mouths and deny Him with their lifestyles is what an unbelieving world finds simply unbelievable.

He is absolutely right!

What are we do do now?

Take time to...
  • study the Word of God
  • Sit back and count the cost
  • Live out your confession
I want to spend more time with God then:
  • on the computer
  • doing laundry
  • cleaning my house
  • grocery shopping
  • complaining
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

Any thoughts? Amanda is back from her first retreat. She had an awesome time. The boys are at soccer. We are going to hang with the ladies at a Thirty-One party. Enjoy this Spectacular Sunday!

Bad Baby Tucker

This is for my sister (dear sister) who said she loves blogs with pictures. I wanted her to come to my house today and see the kitty. I even cleaned my bathroom for her. She said she didn't want to see the bad kitty. We met at Mom's house even though Mom wasn't there. We talked. We went out to lunch. We shopped. We went to the bakery. We had a lovely five hours together. At least I enjoyed myself  (and the cannoli.)

The "Mean Queen" or Reilly is now the good cat. Really! I'm not lying. Look how sweet she is. The big nine pound furball that she is!

Now Tucker, on the other hand is a TERROR. He bites our ankles. He pounces on Reilly. He jumps on the kitchen counters and table! He jumps in the kitchen sink. He knocked sixteen eggs off of the kitchen counter. He took the filter out of the fish tank. Then he drug it into the living room and destroyed it. (I wasn't home for that one. I can only image how Curtis reacted).

I am telling you the truth. Do not be fooled by this innocent little face. He is a maniac. He eats all of the food and Reilly stands in line and watches. (It's pathetic). And boy is he FAT! He was seven pounds at his visit two weeks ago. He never stops eating. I am sure he weighs as much as our eight year old darling. Yep, I called her darling!

(He is trying to get a bite of Curtis' nachos).

If he does all of this while we are home what do you think he does when we are not here?

He has so much energy. The little mice are his favorite toys.

This is when I love him the most...when he is sleeping.

Who is cuter? Daniel or Tucker.

Reilly was sleeping in this chair but Tucker decided that it was HIS chair. I haven't seen her there since he chased her away.

Tucker kisses! OK, I guess we'll keep him.

On a Serious Note

What you are about to read HERE is not rated G. But you need to read this. This injustice is going on all around us and we aren't even aware. Please educate yourselves. Do something. Blog about it. Get Smart. PRAY!

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39 NIV

Two Down, Two to Go!

It's hard to believe that half of the school year is over already. Report cards came out on Wednesday. In just four months, I will have a high schooler, (I know that "schooler" is not a word!) LOL.

She is having such a great year. I will be sad, of course, when it is over.

Amanda dropped in one subject, Keyboarding. Her percentage was an 88.5%. (Seriously?) What a great job she has done!
